OAUG Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Convene at Oracle OpenWorld 2009

The OAUG began a very busy, high-profile week at Oracle OpenWorld 2009 by hosting more than 1200 attendees and more than 50 special interest group (SIG) meetings on Sunday, October 11. Participants had the opportunity to connect with other Oracle Applications users to explore common interests, challenges, solutions and trends in a number of areas, including:

  • Business Intelligence (BI)
  • Middleware
  • Hyperion
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • General Ledger and Financial Reporting
  • Enterprise Performance Management
  • Payables and Receivables
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance
  • Workforce Planning
  • Enterprise Supply Chain Management

In addition, the OAUG General Ledger (GL) SIG held its inaugural meeting and the OAUG Procurement SIG welcomed participants to its revitalization meeting. Both the Hyperion SIG and the Oracle Business Intelligence SIGs (OBI SIG) hosted well attended meetings and welcomed the participation of Oracle executives John Kopcke and John O’Rourke, who demonstrated Oracle’s ongoing support of the EPM community.


OAUG Member Companies Receive 2009 Oracle Innovation Awards

During Oracle OpenWorld 2009, Oracle announced the recipients of the 2009 Oracle Innovation Awards. The award recognizes organizations for their innovations in deploying Oracle Fusion Middleware.

Among the 2009 Oracle Innovation Award recipients are nine OAUG members in the following categories.

2009 OAUG Oracle Ambassadors Recognized for Service to OAUG Members

The OAUG Oracle Ambassador award recognizes Oracle employees who have made an outstanding contribution to the OAUG and its members by significantly supporting or contributing to the one or more of the OAUG’s goals of advocacy, education and training, and member networking. The OAUG recognized the 2009 Oracle Ambassadors at the OAUG Appreciation Reception during Oracle OpenWorld 2009.

OAUG Member Patricia Dues Named 2009 User Group Evangelist of the Year

The editors of Oracle Magazine named Patricia Dues User Group Evangelist of the Year for 2009. Each year the editors of Oracle Magazine present Editors’ Choice Awards to people who exemplify leadership, vision, and dedication in working with and managing Oracle technology.

Patricia Dues is enterprise program manager for the City of Las Vegas, Nevada. She has been an active participant with the OAUG since 1996, serving in a number of capacities, including serving three years as OAUG President.

Congratulations, Patricia, on this exceptional acknowledgement for all you do for the OAUG and the greater Oracle users community.

OAUG Fusion Council Hosts Next-Generation Applications User Experience Overview

During the OAUG Fusion Council meeting at Oracle OpenWorld 2009, presenters led participants in an exploration of “Next Generation User Experience Fundamentals”.

Oracle’s Next-Generation Applications provide a substantial commitment to end-user productivity. By working in-depth with customers to observe how end users did their work and by leveraging the best practices of Applications Unlimited products, Oracle identified key “Next Generation User Experience Fundamentals” necessary to drive next-generation productivity.

The session was presented by Floyd Teter, project manager, Jet Propulsion Laboratory; Jeremy Ashley, vice president Applications User Experience, Oracle; and Katie Candland, director Applications User Experience, Oracle.


Subject Matter Experts Lead Education Sessions

Also, during Oracle OpenWorld, OAUG members who are subject matter experts in Oracle Applications presented 30 education sessions, featuring compelling solutions and customer-centric case studies.
